Plans in Seville: from October to December 2018

Plans in Seville: from October to December 2018

En nuestro hotel boutique en Sevilla nos encanta el otoño. Con todos los planes y actividades que hay lo difícil será renunciar a alguna.

The Opera

  • Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti, at the Maestranza Theater. October 26 and 29, November 1 and 4 at 8:00 p.m. This year's lyrical season opens with the work responsible for the rebirth of the forgotten composer Donizetti. The central axis of the opera, which is based on the work of Walter Scott, is the story of Lucia and Edgardo, condemned to live a tragic love story because of the hatred of their families in 1700 Scotland.

Dance

  • International Festival of Contemporary Dance. From October 28 to November 11. The 25th Edition of the Month of Dance takes advantage of the round number to remember its past. Its promotional video takes a trip down memory lane showing its present artists and creators during the fourth century of life. See all the programming on the official website.

Theatre

  • Ay, Carmela, by J. Sanchís Sinistierra, at the Lope de Vega Theater. From November 22 to 25 at 8:30 p.m., except on Sundays (7:30 p.m.). Three troubadours entertain Republican soldiers in the same trenches. Soon the tired routine of the protagonists during the Civil War changes and forces the re-adaptation of the show. A dramatic comedy that surely makes for a great autumn afternoon.

Exhibitions

  • Photo exhibition Jondo, Samurai, at the Chamber of Commerce. From September 17 to October 20. The 150th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Spain and Japan coincides with the Flamenco Biennial. For almost a month, you can enjoy the photographs of José Manuel Ramírez about flamenco art in Japan.

Monuments & Routes

  • Guided tour to San Luis de los Franceses. Select days in December. Still unknown by many Sevillians, this church is one of the greatest Baroque examples in the city. In constant restoration, it is convenient to take advantage of scarce opening dates to the public. €8

Palacio de Altamira, in Sevilla. Photo: Europa Press.

  • Visit to the Palaces of Altamira and Mañara. All year, only on Tuesdays and Thursdays except holidays at 11:30 a.m. By means of arranged groups and for free, it is possible to see these two palaces, which have achieved Bien de Interés Cultural status (Heritage of Cultural Interest). You only need to book in advance via email.

  • Official guided tour of the Setas (Mushrooms). From Tuesday to Saturday at 11:30 a.m. One hour of travel to appreciate a space where modernity meets tradition. The excellent views from its lookout point prepare the visitor to taste traditional Andalusian food, delve into the Roman ruins of its substratum and taste the typical wine of the city. Price: €5

Cinema

  • European Film Festival of Seville. From 9 to 17 November. The XV edition gathers celluloid lovers eager to reconnect with the independent scene of Europe. But also to see offers from Andalusia and Spain on the big screen. Its programming also has something for even the smallest of the house. Take note, its programming always retraces its steps to pay tribute to important figures of European cinema.

  • Ingmar Bergman Cycle at Nervión Plaza Cinema. Every Thursday until November 29 at 8:00 p.m. The classic cinema of the acclaimed Swedish director can be enjoyed in the cinemas of Seville. Over these weeks, attendees will have the opportunity to watch outstanding films such as Wild Strawberries, Autumn Sonata or The Seventh Seal. The general admission price costs €4.90; and €3.90 with the Tarjeta5 from Cinesur.

Music

  • O Sister Concert, October 19, at the Teatro Central at 10:00 p.m. Under the name of '10 Crazy Years' the sextet will celebrate their decade on the stages in the city that gave their group life. The discovery of the music of The Boswell Sisters and their vocalic jazz; its beginning as a group; the concert tribute to the trio of sisters in the United States. A set of emotions that will surface in this special concert.

South Caravan Festival, in the CAAC. 4, 5 and 6 of October. The opportunity to see the Original Blue Brother Band on stage, Marky Ramone and names from the national scene like Reincidentes, Antílopez or Miguel Campello.

Activities for the whole family

  • Musical tribute to The Lion King, at the Teatro de Triana. November 10 at 8:00 p.m. After passing through the Gran Vía in Madrid, the Onbeat company will commemorate the soundtrack of the Disney classic. Tickets from €17.25.

  • Storyteller in English Gina Ginger & Charlie Chives, at the Baobab Los Remedios Bookstore. November 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. This free plan is perfect for children to become familiar with English. Recommended for children between 3 and 10 years old.

  • Screening of the film Pompoko, at the Caixafórum. October 6 at 12:00 p.m. Small moviegoers will enjoy this story full of magical animals. The tanuki community, made up of half-dog half-raccoon animals, must fight together to save their home in the forest and not give in to those who put them in danger.

  • The assassin of reganá, in the Zero Room. From October 17 to November 11. The successful novel by Julio Muñoz Gijón arrives at the theaters of Seville. A story where Sevillian traditions are mixed and the detective plot of a murderer with a very peculiar weapon. Ticket prices: from €12 to €15.
